Our Response to COVID-19

March 18, 2020

Dear friends & neighbors,

At this unprecedented time with continuously evolving information and recommendations, we are writing to announce another change to our services, which we believe will best support the health and well being of our community as well as the critical effort to “flatten the curve” of the COVID-19 virus.

As of Friday, March 20th, we will be moving to solely curbside and home delivery services for what we hope will be a limited period of time.  We will be open Wednesday and Thursday this week from 9-6, during which time we encourage you to use either our curbside or home delivery services as we closely monitor the number of patrons in our store and continue to promote safe social distancing.  Beginning March 20th, our staff will be in the store from 9am-4pm Monday through Saturday to take your orders and payments over the phone and to either deliver to you curbside or arrange for home delivery. Our website allows you to search the books we have available either in the store or for order, and we will be happy to talk you through our selection of puzzles, games, toys, candy, and books in order to provide you with activities that may help make this time of social distancing manageable.  We also have educational products from BrainQuest and Highlights, a wide variety of puzzles from 100 to 1000 pieces, and a number of great games! You can reach us at (207)799-2659 or info@nonesuchbooks.com. We will reassess this decision on March 27th and post an update at that time.

As small business owners, this is a difficult decision.  We believe that closing the store to customers is the best action we can take to support our community’s health and assist in containing the COVID-19 virus.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. Your support and understanding is greatly appreciated!

  1. Hi Beth,
I just finished reading an opinion article in the NYT about supporting our local bookstores and thought of you. I hope you are doing ok and I would love to help support you during this unbelievably challenging time.
We could use a few more puzzles, if you have any left. We are big fans of Liberty Puzzles, but as another small business, they are shut down as well. I also am in need of more reading material, having just finished Deborah Harkness’s “ A Discovery of Witches, series, so if you have any reading list suggestions, I would love to hear about them. Thanks and hope you and your family are well. Allison
